Highlights from LUGPA’s Fort Lauderdale Regional Meeting

March 27 - 28, 2026: Regional Meeting - Fort Lauderdale, FL

LUGPA’s Regional Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, held March 27–28, 2026, brought together urologists, practice administrators, advanced practice providers, and key staff for a focused discussion on the technologies and strategies shaping the future of urologic care. Designed as an intimate forum, the meeting encouraged open dialogue and peer exchange while delivering practical insights into emerging clinical and operational trends.

The program began Friday evening with a welcome reception, giving attendees an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues and meet new participants before the full day of education on Saturday. The meeting opened with remarks from Dr. Benjamin Lowentritt, who welcomed attendees and set the stage for a day of forward-looking discussions.

A highlight of the program was the CME-accredited session, Charting the Future of Precision Oncology in Prostate Cancer: The Emerging Role of PTEN Testing, led by Dr. Jason Hafron and Dr. Gordon Brown. The session explored how biomarkers—particularly PTEN—can help personalize care for patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer, including how PTEN loss may signal higher-risk disease and influence treatment decisions earlier in the care pathway.

Throughout the day, speakers and panelists examined the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence and advanced technologies in urology. Sessions explored how AI tools can be implemented in clinical practice, how AI is beginning to influence pathology and diagnostic testing, and how practices can evaluate emerging technologies to determine what will truly add value. Additional discussions focused on broader market forces affecting healthcare delivery, as well as the practical optimization of PET-CT imaging in urologic care.

The program also included industry symposia, roundtable discussions, and dedicated exhibit hall breaks, allowing attendees to engage directly with industry partners while continuing conversations sparked in the educational sessions. The meeting concluded with an open mic discussion that gave participants the opportunity to share perspectives, raise questions, and reflect on key takeaways.

As with all LUGPA Regional Meetings, the Fort Lauderdale gathering provided a valuable opportunity for members to network in a smaller setting, exchange ideas, and compare notes on running successful independent urology practices.
