LUGPA Advocacy Win: Medicare Reimbursement Fix Secured for 2026July 7, 2025 We’re pleased to share a major advocacy victory: the newly passed reconciliation bill includes a 2.5% increase to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) conversion factor for 2026. This temporary fix delivers critical financial relief to independent medical practices, helping to ease the mounting pressures that threaten the sustainability of our care model. Without action, steep Medicare cuts would have further strained our practices, limiting resources, threatening staff retention, and jeopardizing access to care for millions of patients. This 2.5% increase provides a crucial buffer that will enable independent practices to continue delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. This progress is a direct result of LUGPA’s strong advocacy and your active engagement. Our work with Representative Greg Murphy, M.D., and LUGPA member participation during our fly-in meetings was instrumental in bringing this issue to the forefront. Rep. Murphy’s leadership, combined with the compelling voices of our members, was critical in securing this fix. Your advocacy dollars are working. LUGPA has been a leading voice on this issue, ensuring that the concerns of independent urologists remain a priority on Capitol Hill. However, while this temporary relief is a significant step forward, our mission remains ongoing. We need lasting Medicare reimbursement reform to protect the future of independent practice and the patients we serve. We remain committed to building on this momentum. LUGPA will continue to engage with lawmakers, build coalitions, and push for meaningful, long-term solutions that support stability, fairness, and innovation in healthcare.
