Dr. Hou Receives 2025 Resident Clinical Excellence Award

     
        

At LUGPA's 2025 Annual Meeting, Dr. Laurence “Larry” Hou was presented with LUGPA Forward's 2025 Resident Clinical Excellence Award.

Dr. Hou is a PGY-5 urology resident and Chief Resident at Hackensack University Medical Center. He was nominated by his Program Director, Dr. Harry P. Koo, who praised his leadership, innovation, and commitment to patient care. “Dr. Hou has consistently demonstrated exceptional aptitude for adopting and mastering new surgical technologies,” said Dr. Koo.

Early in his residency, Dr. Hou became a key figure in advancing Aquablation at his institution, participating in over 100 cases and helping establish standardized education for residents and faculty. “He has taken charge of ensuring quality, consistency, and patient safety,” added Dr. Koo. “His ability to engage patients, staff, and colleagues with professionalism and kindness makes him an invaluable member of our team.”

After completing his residency, Dr. Hou will begin a Robotic Surgery & Minimally Invasive Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Summit Health/Hackensack University Medical Center.
