Information about the Resident Clinical Innovation Award
The Resident Clinical Innovation Award recognizes and celebrates urology residents' innovative clinical work that promotes - and has the potential to enhance - quality clinical outcomes. The award acknowledges the value of clinical innovation that can harness new technologies, and the development of systems of care to prevent, diagnose or treat urological disease and promote urological health.
SUGGESTED TOPICS FOR CONSIDERATION
- New or innovative technology or devices
- Data and digital solutions
- Health information exchange or flow of data to support quality improvement
- Support tools for patient care
- Process and/or operational improvement using innovative approaches
- Leveraging customer experience data
- Improving the digital healthcare experience
- Implementation of effective approaches to diagnose, treat or prevent disease using innovative techniques
- Payer/provider/patient collaboration
- Exclusive partnership arrangements
- Payer/employer engagement for a healthier workforce
- Transformative programs or projects in care delivery and health promotion
- Closing the vulnerability gap
- Supporting unique populations (i.e. rural or remote)
NOTE: This is a suggested list only.
SELECTION CRITERIA AND SCORING: The awardee is based on how the project aligns with LUGPA’s mission: to preserve and advance the independent practice of urology while demonstrating quality and value to patients, vendors, third-party payors, legislators and regulatory agencies. Additional selection criteria and scoring includes the following:
- Innovation and creativity
- Project scope and outcome
- Sustainability and scalability
- Impact on intended audience
- Distinction from existing approaches
CASH AWARD: The recipient(s) will be recognized at the LUGPA Annual Meeting in early November with a plaque and cash award of $1000. Travel expenses will be supported by LUGPA.
ELIGIBILITY: The applicant must be actively enrolled in an ACGME-approved urology residency program in the United States or in an approved fellowship.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: The 2023 submission deadline is July 31, 2023. Materials received after deadline will not be considered under any circumstances.
AWARD NOTIFICATION: Award recipient(s) will be notified by September 25.
